• 5 Tips for a Clean and Fresh Refrigerator

A clean refrigerator is a must if you care about your and your family’s health. Cleaning the fridge will be an easy task only if you maintain its cleanliness by following the right steps. We will share with you some tips and tricks to clean the fridge easily.

    Empty the Fridge

Before beginning the cleaning procedure, we have to remove the fridge’s contents. While emptying the fridge, you should also audit the contents carefully, find the ones that you don’t need anymore, and discard them. This audit will help you get rid of food items past their expiration date and food that doesn’t look healthy and fresh. You can also try and start a healthy and mindful way of eating by clearing any junk food, carbonated drinks or other unhealthy food items in the fridge.

Take Out and Clean the Shelves

A refrigerator will have a few removable shelves and fittings; these need to be removed next. There is a possibility of breaking the plastic shelves and fittings during the removal process; this can be avoided by switching off the fridge, waiting for some time and letting the temperature of the shelves and fittings come down to room temperature. After removing them, clean them thoroughly using the homemade solution you have prepared, white vinegar and water to give an ultra-clean look. Surf the internet for some efficient kitchen cleaning tips, if necessary.

    Clean the Inside

Spray the interior of the fridge with homemade cleaner. You can make a homemade cleaner mix by adding white vinegar and water in equal parts. Leave that there for some time to dissolve any gunk or dirt stuck on the inside of the refrigerator. This mixture can also get rid of any foul smells in the refrigerator. You can also use baking soda in the cleaning mixture; it has antibacterial properties. Then wipe down the cleaning solution inside the refrigerator using a clean microfiber cloth from top to bottom of the refrigerator. If the cleaning gets tough for some reason, then you can hire professional house cleaners to help you with it.

Clean the Drain Hole, Drawers, and Doors

A drain hole needs to be cleaned if you feel any clogging, You can use a drain hole cleaning device for this purpose. Also, you can use a syringe to pour the cleaning solution inside the drain. Clean the drain hole frequently to avoid clogging, mold and mildew growth.

To clean the drawers, you have to take them out completely and then soak them in a soap solution to get rid of all the dirt and grime. Scrub the insides of the drawer, then pat them dry with a clean cloth. Wipe the doors and door seals with a cleaning solution and then pat them dry.

    Clean the Freezer

Defrost the freezer and keep the food items in the freezer in a freezer bag to keep them frozen. Allow the freezer to come down to room temperature so that the shelves and plastic fittings won’t break if warm water is used to clean the freezer compartment. Then clean it using the cleaner mixture, let it sit there for some time, and then wipe it all with a clean microfiber cloth.
