We all want to live in a clean home. After all, a clean home is a healthy home. But we don’t all have the time or the will power to actually clean the whole house thoroughly each week. And there are parts of your house that you really should clean at least once a week.
Fortunately, we spoke to Pink Power Cleaning, a professional cleaning company whose employees have countless hours of experience in cleaning homes. They shared with us some tips on what to focus on if you are really strapped for time.
Here’s the thing with cleaning – there are two things you need to focus on. The first is the visual aspect of cleaning – what will actually be seen by someone when they enter a room that has been cleaned. The other is the level of detail and cleanliness that you are able to impart on your home.
If you want quick visual results, you should really focus on taking care of things that can be done quickly and efficiently. That means going in for the big items. Start with dealing with the clutter. If you have books or papers lying around – find a spot for them neatly put away.
The same thing applies to your clothes. If you’ve done laundry, put the clothes away as soon as they are dry. If you have clothes strewn around, just fold them and put them on a chair or your closet – the visual change in the room will be palpable – giving you more energy and motivation to continue cleaning.
Let’s be honest – if you’re looking to clean your home quickly, chances are that you will skip a step or two, or that you won’t put as much time and effort into some tasks as you should. And that’s an OK thing to do every once in a while, just don’t make it a habit.
If you decide not to wash your windows this week, that’s fine, they will probably be fine until the next time you’re cleaning your home. If you’re vacuuming your house, not every session needs to be super in-depth and detailed, especially if you didn’t get your home overly dirty since the last cleaning.
Cutting corners here and there can save you a bit of time and effort when you need it. However, there are some tasks where you really shouldn’t bend the rules. Pretty much anything involving cleaning your kitchen and other areas associated with food really should be cleaned thoroughly each time.
Fortunately, there are other parts of your house which provide ample opportunities for reducing the time and effort in washing. The living room, in particular, may not need to be dusted each week and the bathroom walls and mirrors can be just wiped down quickly instead of a detailed cleaning.
If you find yourself strapped for time more often than not, you have a few options. You can either delegate this task to professional cleaners, or you can have your family members pitch in and help with the cleaning.
For instance, children can help around with simpler tasks, such as taking out the trash or dusting, whereas your spouse or partner can help with the more physically demanding tasks, such as vacuuming or scrubbing the toilet.
Keeping the house clean and tidy is more than a matter of vanity – it is necessary to feel comfortable and enjoy your home. That’s why you should always find a way to clean the home, even if you do cut a corner here and there.
